Questions worth asking any nursery app
- Why does it need the microphone? A sound check needs it. A white-noise player does not.
- Is audio processed on the phone or uploaded? Look for the words "in memory," "on device," and "never uploaded."
- Is there an account? Accounts mean a server holding something about your family.
- Are there ads or analytics SDKs? Both are common paths for data to leave an app.
- What exactly crosses the network? The best answer is a short list of typed fields.
How Lullasure handles it
Microphone audio is analyzed in memory to produce an estimated level and is never written to disk, logged, or transmitted. There is no account, advertising identifier, or analytics SDK. When two iPhones pair for a crib-level check, the connection is encrypted and carries only play or pause state, sound identifier, app volume, timer state, and numeric readings with timestamps. Does Lullasure use the microphone while playing sound?
Only when you run a check. Playback alone never opens the microphone.
